Sarah Allard

Voice

And I sung as woman too, all
pounds of me rich thunder,
all years of me compressed
                to voice:

through that, have come to dream
myself, all arm-heavy; filled
buckets, water-draw to grey
         the coals without

able, as I spread
hot cells, all heart

     in me singing.

Sarah Allard is an English major nearing twenty at Framingham State College in Framingham, Massachusetts. She enjoys rain, sugary iced coffee, and time spent with her dog, Gretta.
